Top Ten Tuesday REWIND:Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished
A meme from the Broke and the Bookish.
Today’s Topic: Top Ten Tuesday REWIND (pick a past topic that we’ve done that you missed or just want round 2 of!)
Today I get to go back and pick a past topic, which is super exciting because I just started. Ironically I am not going to go back far, just to the post that made me go “I want to talk about these things.” Thus…
September 25: Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished (because either you didn’t like them, you just have procrastinated, etc.)
I have a really bad tendency to start a series, buy the rest of the series… and still have not finished them. All of these are series that I actually like and intend to finish. I’ve linked to the first book in the series
1. Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage
I’m finally working on this one, but it took me a long time to get this far. I love the unique narration and the quirky nature of this bit of Magyk.
2. Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust
Once again, the whole series of this wonderful – adult, male protagonist fantasy sits on my shelf. I like the fact that though this is a fantasy world there are other genres at play.
3. The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott
Love the concept and the basis and the delivery and the history and… and… I’ve only read the first book. The writing is very unique and gorgeous.
4. The Queen’s Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner
I hate the title of this series… It is a spoiler for book one. Book one was back in my era and so now I have the rest but I haven’t made the dive back into it.
5. Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
Yep only read book one, fell in love. Watched the movie and laughed. I have everything so far. Marathon anyone?
6. Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan
Mix that marathon with this one and we have nerd heaven. I’ll admit I loved the first book of this probably even more than Percy. The siblings and egypt for the win.
7. Circle universe by Tamora Pierce
As much as I love the Tortall universe I am seriously behind on the Circle universe. I love the ensemble cast but I don’t think I ever connected to any of them as strongly as the Tortall residents. I have actually read a couple in this case.
8. The Looking Glass Wars series by Frank Beddor
Steampunk, science fiction, fantasy… I’m not sure what to call it. I’ve never actually read Alice so my take on that front isn’t reliable. Yep, only read one. I’m a starter apparently.
9. Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde
Literary magic. I mean Inkspell is one thing but this is mystery and the other, not really fantasy but a whole different set of rules. This isn’t fantasy or science fiction this is truly speculative fiction.
10. Redwall series by Brian Jacques
Started it back in elementary school. I can’t even remember how far I’ve read but I have kept buying and I WILL finish.
I started The Looking Glass Wars and the Kane Chronicles and haven’t finished either. I could probably make a list of 20 of series I haven’t gotten around to finishing yet.
I’m more excited about finishing Kane Chronicles then I am about The Looking Glass Wars. This was definitely a narrowed down list of what I want to finish. And there are some series I’m simply not caught up on because the next book isn’t out yet like the Department Q series by Jussi-Adler Olsen or the Mither Mages series by Orson Scott Card. Then there are things I forgot like reading Bitterblue by Kristen Cashore… If I made a list of all the series I haven’t finished it would probably be terrifying…
As an MWT fan, I have to say READ THE REST OF THE SERIES. Queen of Attolia blew The Thief out of the water and King of Attolia left me speechless. They’re phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal.
