Another summer, another adventure. In true Greek tradition Percy’s next journey takes him across the sea to retrieve a legendary item from a legendary creature… and save a damsel that is not actually a damsel.

It was good to see Percy get around some actual water. I mean there were small amounts of water in the first book, but nothing really worthy of the son of Poseidon. This adventure fits the traditions of they mythology more than any of the others. We are definitely on an odyssey. There are magic objects and mysterious islands. I have to admire a creepy cruise ship. Also the twist at the end… was awesome. Sometimes there is too much of a good thing, especially when it is something magical.

(This is when I’m tempted to go stream of consciousness and rage a bit about how long I have put off this post.)

I could also rage about just how angry I was when I watched the preview for the movie. A character who is supposed to be away practically the entire time and is part of the reason for the adventure… is with them the entire time? Seriously.
