The Quiet American by Graham Greene
Books like this are the reason I am glad I continued to dabble in English in college; definitely not my usual reading but a brilliant read. A historical fiction set in the middle of the Vietnam conflicts the tale is given from the perspective of a British journalist. The political messages are highly applicable in today’s context as well. The writing in witty and potent. The characters are all very human but some of them in the ways we prefer not to think about. Greene paints a spectrum of politics and humanity that will leave you thinking for hours.
