Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Most Intimidating Books

Top Ten

A meme from the Broke and the Bookish.

Today’s topic: Top Ten Most Intimidating Books (might be intimated by size, content, that everyone else loves it but you are sure you won’t etc).

1. The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley – Everyone loves it and it is a a pretty big book.

2. Anything Warhammer 40K – A huge universe, each series is long and each book is long.

3. A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R Martin – Even though I’ve already started the series I am still intimidated because there are so many, so long and so complex that you need to read them one right after another.

4. The Redwall series by Brian Jacques – I read much of it when I was young but I would need to start over and it is quite possibly the biggest series.

5. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood – It is a very “important” book, and one of my best friend’s favorite books. She gave it to me and I still haven’t read it.

6. One Hundred Years Of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez – Everything I have ever heard makes me want to read this book but it just feels soo important that it makes me nervous.

7. Lucky by Alice Sebold – I liked The Lovely Bones but I feel like the authentic nature of Lucky would make it difficult.

8. John Green – I’ve read Paper Towns but I’m just not sure if he is my thing. Everyone I know adores him.

9. Stephen King – The only thing I have read, The Eyes of the Dragon, is not his normal fare, but I really just don’t know where I would start. He has written so much.

10. Neil Gaiman – Even though I’ve read a good amount, there is still just so much. I get intimidated at going back, there are graphic novels and joint works and so much.
