Looking Forward (2013)

Every Friday we eat at the same Japanese restaurant with a group of friends.  It is run by a Korean couple that we have become friends with in spite of the fact that she especially does not speak much English.  There is one idea that she has become very clear about communicating…  wondering when Ben and I are getting married.  Recently she declared that it would be this year.  No I don’t anticipate this happening in 2013.  It might happen someday.

I try to think about a year in broader terms.  I don’t think that I have ever really set a resolution, especially that I have stuck to.

Finding a job is a top priority of course.  Part of the difficulty is my priority in this is staying in Greensboro.  I am very open about what I am willing to do.

My reading and writing and bookish goals were covered in this post.  And I’ve made a list of books that I really want to get to reading this year here.  Things are already changing though.  I don’t think I’ll finish the Ember series.  Why? When I finished the first book I was not ready to gobble down the next.  I pulled it out and it sat on the coffee table for a couple of days.  I suppose I may finish it someday but there are too many books and not enough time.

I’ve made a decision that I will implement today.  I’m getting rid of the self-created memes.  It is too structured, it is not organic.  I like my Top Ten Tuesday and Booking Through Thursday but the rest are keeping me from blogging.  If I can’t come up with a Media post then I feel bad posting on Monday so that is going away.

There are so many things I want to do.  I want to get back to sewing and maybe knitting.  I want to get in shape and this is definitely a priority, otherwise Ben will go backpacking without me.  I want to eat better but I think I need to build other habits first.  I want to organize.  I have started writing a plan for organizing our apartment.  That probably sounds bonkers but it makes me happy.  You will probably see some evidence show up here.

I hope that we take at least one actual vacation this year.  It will probably be camping/hiking/etc.

I want to spend more time with friends.  Having people over to eat and hang out.  Neither of us are natural hosts but I think we can do it.

I want to work on all my social media outlets.  When I started on twitter I fell into the trap often of they followed me so I should follow them.

I’m getting rather specific, but I think the best point that I can make is my work goal for 2013 is to have one.  I don’t have huge career aspirations.  Rather I have aspirations for my life!
