Oddly enough this is the only Stephen King I have ever read. I keep telling myself I will read others, but obviously I have a lot of things I want to read. When I think of this book I think the ultimate fairy tale. Okay, there is not really romance but still there is something so wonderful about the imperfect king, the benevolent queen and all the tiny details that make up this story. I don’t think this story belongs exclusively to Peter or anyone. The magician Flagg has been plotting the downfall of Delain for generations and he thinks wit the murder of Roland and imprisonment of Peter that he finally has the perfect tool, Thomas. However he underestimates the foe he has in Peter and the power of his mother Sasha even years after her death. I first read this in the 9th grade, the same year as 9-11 and I am not sure how many times I have read it since. With short chapters that keep you going just one more until the wee hours of the morning this is a book that I will be looking at again and again.
